In Fall 2017, Dr. Vrushali Bokil and I facilitated a two-session workshop for first-year graduate students in mathematics at Oregon State University as part of the ADVANCE grant for institutional transformation. The overall goal of ADVANCE is “to serve as a catalyst for advancing the study and practice of equity, inclusion, and justice for women and others from historically underrepresented groups.”
For 2017 New GTA Orientation, I created this session. Using backwards design, I lead GTAs through developing their own set of class expectations, and choosing action steps for the first day of class which support their desired classroom environment.
I developed a workshop for Graduate Teaching Assistants based on the work of Dr. Valerie Young. In Spring 2017 I facilitated this session to all first year mathematics GTAs.
For the 2016 International New GTA Orientation, I helped create and facilitate this workshop.
